African governments must work with the private sector to fully harness the potential of the energy and technology sector. This is according to Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, who says that the continent continues to lag behind in the transition to cleaner and renewable energy despite its huge capacity to generate it. According to the deputy president, the continent’s renewable energy capacity stands at 56 gigawatts today, far from the targeted 300 gigawatts needed to power industrial and manufacturing sectors.
