In a rare show of appreciation, police officers at the Kiamutugu police station in Kirinyaga county, were on new years day treated to a banquet by locals, following a huge decline in crime previously witnessed in the area for many years.
Lauding the officers for being on the lookout especially during the festive season when crimes skyrocket, locals treated the men and women in uniform to various delicacies, and even baked a cake for them. To further secure the area, the police appealed to the residents largely drawn from ngariama ward to always come out as witnesses when crimes are committed, to ensure perpetrators are kept at bay.
