The County government of Kitui has put stringent measures to save mango farmers from losses which have been affecting them every season. According to the CECM in charge of Agriculture Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, Kitui farmers have been suffering losses going up to 90% after harvesting their fruits due to a lack of market. The government has since moved in to establish Farmer Producer Organisations to link the farmers directly to buyers, hence reducing the losses which occur due to delays.
