Mwingi police station was turned into a refuge camp as fearful residents from one community sought safety overnight amid escalating tensions. The Mwingi–Garissa highway remained impassable for the third consecutive day with dozens of passengers stranded at bus termini in Nairobi and Garissa, as operators suspended transport services citing security concerns.
