The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has strongly opposed a government-backed proposal to review and potentially scrap certain hardship zones. KUPPET has accused Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi of overstepping his mandate with the proposed de-gazettement, citing a lack of public participation and consultation with affected teavhers. The union is now threatening legal action, insisting the hardship allowances in question are enshrined in a binding Collective Bargaining Agreement.
