Twenty people have been arrested in connection with recent electoral violence reported in Kisumu and Nyahururu, as the government intensifies its crackdown on political goonism. Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen urged the Judiciary to hand down stiff penalties to deter political goonism. Meanwhile, a political storm is brewing in Ukambani, where local leaders have given Labor CS Alfred Mutua a ten-day ultimatum to dissolve his Maendeleo Chap Chap party and join UDA, threatening to petition the President for his dismissal if he fails to fold the party.
