For the third time, Lucy Nyokabi Mathenge failed to take a plea at Makadara Court with the magistrate directing the office of public prosecutions to give new directions. Principal magistrate Mary Njagi gave them up to the 16th of September to respond, failure to which Nyokabi will take a plea.Lucy Nyokabi is facing charges of defrauding John Ngaruya of 640,000 shillings under the guise of selling him land. Her defense team had requested that the case be moved from criminal to civil court to allow her to resolve the issue by refunding the defrauded amount. However, the complainant’s lawyer opposed this request amidst allegations that the case is being dragged to evade justice.
