Several contractors and vendors who supplied goods and services to the Machakos County government have sounded the alarm over millions of shillings in unpaid dues, claiming county officials have used intimidation when they seek payment. Speaking in Machakos, the contractors say they have endured months of financial strain after the county allegedly failed to honour their contracts. Machakos County Finance Minister Catherine Mutanu says Governor Wavinya’s administration inherited pending bills running into billions and is committed to settling claims that are verified as legitimate.
