Malindi has heightened security ahead of The Summer Tide, Africa’s premier beach festival, which is expected to attract more than 15,000 revellers for three days of music, entertainment and beach festivities.
Police and county officials have deployed a multi-agency security team, announced traffic diversions and road closures, and assured visitors of their safety throughout the event. Hotels, holiday homes and Airbnbs are fully booked as local and international artists converge at Lost Beach for what is expected to be the biggest entertainment event ever hosted in the coastal resort town. The annual festival is also expected to give a major boost to tourism and the local economy.
