Staying with the Middle East crisis, the war in Iran has rattled diverse sectors of the economy, with tea exports grinding to a halt following blockage of shipping routes. Players in the Kenyan tea industry say the sector has been plunged into estimated losses of 3.1 billion shillings. More than 8 million kilograms of tea is stuck at ports and in tea warehouses owing to supply chain bottlenecks. East African Tea Trade Association says the country risks losing 65 percent of the country's tea market, should Pakistan be affected by the conflict.
