Milk shortage pushes prices up by more than 30 percent

For more than a month, Kenyans have grappled with a milk shortage that has pushed prices up by more than 30 percent. A spot check in Pipeline Estate, Nairobi, paints a picture of a crisis being felt not only on supermarket shelves and at milk ATMs, but also in the pockets of already struggling Kenyans. In Nyandarua County, one of Kenya’s leading milk-producing regions, farmers are now calling on the government to honour its promise to improve pay for dairy farmers. Gatete Njoroge reports.
