Mombasa County has strengthened its preparedness against Ebola by launching a specialised training and simulation centre at Port Reitz Sub-County Hospital in partnership with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
The facility will train frontline healthcare workers on Ebola detection, infection prevention, patient management, and emergency response procedures. It can also be converted into an isolation unit if an outbreak occurs.
Health officials say Mombasa’s position as an international transport hub makes preparedness critical, with the county among Kenya’s high-risk areas due to its airport, seaport, and regional transport links.
