More than 800 nurses in Mombasa County have remained off duty as the nationwide nurses’ strike entered its second week, with the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) ruling out a return to work until the Council of Governors (CoG) commits to resolving their long-standing demands.
KNUN Industrial Relations Officer Peter Maroko said negotiations involving the union, the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) and a government-appointed conciliator from the Ministry of Labour had failed to reach an agreement.
