    With search and rescue efforts in Marakwet East paused for the night, let us get a situation update from the Ministry of Interior on the impact of the short rains across the country. GFX 1 A total of 21 fatalities have so far been reported in Elgeyo Marakwet following a mudslide that affected the Endo, Sambirir, and Embobut Wards in Marakwet East Constituency. 30 people are reported as missing with 25 seriously injured airlifted to Eldoret GFX 2 A 15-year-old boy drowned in Kapounja, Kisumu West subcounty after being swept away by flood waters along River Obonyo. In Kisumu Central and East, more than 340 households in Kaputhe, Nanga, Dunga, Onjweru, Kanyawade, Kaloo, Kodie, Alar, and Kowuore have been affected by the heavy rains. GFX 3 In Tana River, flooding has submerged 67 households in Dhuhush, Lebille, Bultobanta, and Bangale, leading to the death of 170 sheep and goats and one camel. GFX 4 Garissa County has reported the loss of approximately 300 goats in Guthoi area, Shimbirey Location. GFX 5 In Laikipia County, 89 household around the Lobere Dam area have been displaced after multiple dams overflowed following heavy overnight rainfall. GFX 6 In Mombasa, localized flooding in Mburukenge and Kaa Chonjo informal settlements has been linked to an incomplete drainage stormwater project.
