The Daystar University handball team paid the price for a two-week university break after suffering a 37–17 defeat to table-toppers Nairobi Water in the only Women’s Premier League match played on Sunday at the Nyayo National Stadium outdoor court.
Daystar struggled with match fitness, finding it difficult to keep pace with their opponents. The defeat drops them to fifth place in the standings, while Nairobi Water consolidated their position at the top of the table.
In the Men’s Premier League, Kisiwaani endured a difficult weekend, losing both of their matches—narrowly falling 26–29 to Lions and later suffering a 38–42 defeat to fifth-placed General Service Unit.
League leaders National Cereals and Produce Board secured a 32–22 win over Kenyatta University, while Black Mamba went down 28–20 to Ulinzi Shooters.
Daystar Falcons will return to action on Saturday against third-placed NCPB in Women’s Premier League action.
