Religious leaders in Naivasha have accused the government of abandoning victims of the Mai Mahiu flash floods tragedy that swept Kamuchiri area, killing at least 50 people. The clergy, led by Reverend Joseph Gitau, said 12 months after the tragic turn of events, dozens of the affected families continue to languish in poverty as promises to resettle and compensate the victims remain unfulfilled. According to the survivors, the aftermath of the 29th April 2024 tragedy is slowly drowning most of them into depression as they grapple with the harsh reality of the losses and unfulfilled promises. They are now pleading with the government and well-wishers to urgently intervene to relieve their woes and help them get back to their feet
