The Nakuru County Teaching and Referral Hospital has launched a campaign to increase exclusive breastfeeding rates among reproductive and working women in the county. The initiative aims to raise the current breastfeeding rate from 60 percent to at least 75 percent through awareness, education and workplace support. Speaking during the commemoration of World Breastfeeding Week, health officials highlighted the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding for both mothers and babies, including stronger immunity, improved brain development and reduced risk of certain diseases. The hospital is also promoting the use of its fully equipped lactation space to support working mothers returning from maternity leave.
