The much-awaited tarmacking of the 58-kilometre Nanyuki-Doldol Road in Laikipia County has finally commenced, with the Sh5.5 billion project expected to be completed within three years. The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) says the contractor is already on site, while public engagement has begun to notify residents who have encroached on the road reserve to vacate voluntarily. The upgraded road is expected to improve access between Nanyuki and Doldol, boost healthcare access, create employment opportunities, support economic growth among pastoral communities and enhance security in an area affected by banditry and cattle rustling.
