Opposition MPs vow to push for amendments to Finance Bill 2026

Members of the National Assembly allied to the opposition have vowed to push for amendments to delete several clauses in the Finance Bill 2026 they claim are punitive. Making submission at the close of the debate on the Finance Bill 2026 the legislators cited tax on importation of second-hand clothes and tax on mobile phones as contentious. However, legislators in support of the government fired back at the opposition saying they are spreading propaganda and misinforming the public, saying no new taxes have been introduced to burden the citizens.
