Opposition parties Jubilee Party and Democracy for Citizens Party are calling on Kenyans to reject the Finance Bill 2026 in its entirety, claiming that the new bill seeks to reintroduce punitive taxes targeting both middle- and low-income earners.
And as Seth Olale reports, opposition leaders from the two parties are also demanding that the fuel pricing formula by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority be made public, accusing the government of secretly securitising the fuel levy for financial gains instead of using the kitty to cushion Kenyans against the high cost of fuel.
