Most parents in Kajiado County are struggling to raise school fees and other necessities with their livestock unable to fetch good prices due to decreased buying power. The prices have dropped from the previous 100,000 shillings for a mature cow to as low as 30,000 shillings with the herders attributing the situation to the long drought in the area and a rise in the cost of living.
