The National Police Service, the Inspector General of Police, and the Attorney General have been summoned to show cause why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for contempt of court. Delivering the ruling on Tuesday, Justice Alfred Mabeya said the three risked undermining key provisions of the Constitution, including the right to peaceful assembly. Meanwhile, the Law Society of Kenya has criticised state agencies for failing to implement lasting reforms, accusing them of evading accountability by settling compensation claims instead.
