Report shows drought and floods cost 5% of GDP annually

    The National and County governments have been challenged to step up and provide financial and political assistance to counties that are prone to climate change-induced humanitarian crises. Reports by the Overseas Development Institute and the Institute of Public Finance show that while these crises cost the economy upto 5% of its GDP, billions of shillings that could be used to mitigate them are lost through corruption and illicit financial flows.
