Tonight, President William Ruto has cautioned that the escalating conflict between the United States and Israel against Iran, now disrupting the Strait of Hormuz and global cargo routes, including those serving Africa and Kenya, could trigger serious economic shocks in the near future. Despite earlier assurances from the Ministry of Energy that fuel importation channels and stocks remain sufficient, the President says the government has been consulting with peers in the region on ways to forestall any serious effects from the Middle-East crisis. Those consultations include looking for alternative importation routes should it become necessary, especially with Kenya’s oil imports that originate from the Middle East.
