President William Ruto's persistent critique of the judiciary continues to draw criticism, with a section of civil society organisations labelling it as an attempt to directly control how the judiciary dispenses its mandate. The president’s recent attacks were particularly directed at judges who he claimed were operating with impunity to sabotage some of the government’s projects. The Linda Jamii Initiative has taken a swipe at the president for planning to undermine the independence of the Judiciary and erode public trust in the legal system.
