Education stakeholders in Siaya County are calling for a review of Kenya's capitation funding model, saying it is disadvantaging smaller rural schools that struggle to meet basic operational costs due to low student enrolment.
Speaking during the donation of 4,000 textbooks to Aduwa and Nyagwela Comprehensive Schools by the Walter Okello Foundation and the Kenya Literature Bureau, stakeholders urged the government to introduce affirmative measures to protect low-enrolment schools and ensure equitable funding.
