Tension in Isulu over gold mining dispute

Tension remains high in Isulu area of Ikolomani as a dispute over ownership of mineral-rich land intensifies. Local leaders and residents are standing their ground against what they describe as attempts by foreign gold-mining firms to take over more than 300 acres of community land. The residents argue that the process lacks public participation and accuse involved parties of orchestrating a scheme to dispossess them of their ancestral land. The standoff has already turned deadly, with several people killed and others injured as the dispute escalates.
