Teso South Member of Parliament Mary Emase has launched an ambitious programme to replace traditional pit latrines with modern flush toilets in primary schools across the constituency.
The Sh3.5 million per WASH facility project, to be implemented in partnership with the Teso South NG-CDF and other development partners, will include the construction of modern flush toilets, drilling of boreholes, installation of solar-powered water pumping systems, elevated 10,000-litre water tanks, menstrual hygiene management rooms for girls, and biodigesters that will convert waste into biogas for school kitchens.
