As teams gear up for kick-off, there are fears of contempt of court, with an active case at the High Court in Nairobi barring the start of the new season. Fixtures released by the Football Kenya Federation involve 17 teams, with neither Mombasa United nor Kariobangi Sharks scheduled to play. Kariobangi Sharks has taken FKF to court over the matter of relegation and playoffs.
Top clubs Gor Mahia, Kenya Police and Nairobi United are also in a dilemma after signing more than five foreign players in their squads, with uncertainty over whether they will be allowed to field all of them and under which rules.
