Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru has praised the Minji Minji Cup tournament for its role in empowering young people, nurturing grassroots football talent, and promoting a drug-free society. Speaking during the county finals, the governor noted that the tournament brought together 180 teams from all 20 wards, directly engaging over 4,500 youths under the theme “FOMU Nifuta.” Beyond competition, the initiative has served as a platform for awareness on drug and substance abuse while creating a clear pathway for talented players to progress to professional football, with several participants scouted by top clubs.
