2025 was a year defined by an escalation in human rights abuses across the East African region. From abductions, torture, and extrajudicial killings, citizens of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania faced brutal repression for protesting against poor governance, supporting opposition movements, or challenging incumbent leadership.
