The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC, says it requires 74 billion shillings to deliver a free, fair and credible General election. Appearing before the National Assembly’s justice and legal affairs committee, presenting their budget estimates for the 2026/2027 financial year, the electoral body says they have only been allocated 41 billion shillings, leaving a shortfall of 33 billion shillings, which commissioners note could hinder their activities during the polls.
