One-week gun surrender ultimatum in Turkana–West Pokot

The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a one-week ultimatum to residents of West Pokot and Turkana to surrender illegal firearms in an ongoing fight against banditry and insecurity along the inter-county border. The directive followed a high-level joint meeting by County Security Committees from the two counties in Kainuk on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
