Mageta Island in Bondo, Siaya County was once engulfed in darkness due to lack of lighting which meant the island went to sleep as soon as the sun set. Today however residents are telling a different story. The island is now powered by a Sh232 million solar mini-grid, transforming healthcare, education, business, and security in the island.
