DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua says opposition not out to overthrow President Ruto's government

Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has dismissed claims of a coup plot against the government, accusing President William Ruto of coining a narrative for purposes of a campaign of repression against opposition leaders and their supporters. Gachagua, who addressed the media shortly after President Ruto's assertions, said the opposition has no intention of cutting short the president's term short saying they plan to defeat Ruto at the ballot in the 2027 election.
