Stakeholders in the project management space are pushing for regulation of the profession to curb losses from stalled and abandoned projects, which cost Kenya over 600 billion shillings annually, according to a National Treasury report. The Project Management Institute Kenya Chapter says a bill is before parliament to ensure only certified professionals manage key projects. Kenya currently has just over 150,000 certified project managers, far below demand. PMI says a stronger legal framework is key to cutting losses and improving project delivery.
