Kenya Met warns of heavy rainfall and possible flooding in several regions

The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned residents in several parts of the country, including Nairobi, to prepare for heavy rainfall and possible flooding ahead of the new year. In a weather alert issued on Friday, December 26, 2025, the department said rainfall is expected to intensify between December 28 and 30, affecting parts of the Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and southern coastal regions. Counties likely to be affected include Migori, Homa Bay, Kisii, Narok, Kajiado, Makueni, Machakos, Nairobi, Kericho, Bomet, southern Kitui, Taita Taveta and Kwale.
