The county government of Kilifi has pumped in over 200 million shillings targeting micro and small enterprises with a view of generating gainful self-employment and growth of business. Speaking at the re-launch of wezesha fund, Kilifi governor Gideon Mung'aro says Since the initial rollout of the fund, over 320 million has been disbursed to 2,229 groups and 32 cooperatives and that they are targeting to grow the fund to over one billion shilling. The funds are interest free but one is required to pay a one-off 4% management fee.The county government has partnered with Kenya Commercial Bank and Rafiki Microfinance Bank to make the fund more robust in meeting the needs of the people of Kilifi.
