Questions abound over the status of Kenyans who have gone up to nine months without representation due to the demise of elected leaders or even the nullification of some elected leaders' victories by the legal process. With the departure of IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati and commissioners Abdi Gulliye and Boya Molu, as well as ambiguity surrounding the institution’s readiness to hold any election, the electoral agency remains unable to run any election since it's not legally constituted. 2024 will be a litmus test for IEBC, with close to five by-elections on the table.
