Parliament has been urged to reject proposals to introduce 2.5% Motor vehicle tax that is intended to collect Ksh50B and instead spread it to all fuel consumers by increasing fuel levy by one shilling. While submitting views on the finance bill 2024 before the finance and planning committee of the national assembly, Stakeholders including KPMG and the Law Society of Kenya also opposed the proposed 25% excise duty on cooking oil saying it will further increase the cost of living.
