Former Cabinet Minister and Matuga MP Ali Chirau Mwakwere has been officially installed as the spokesperson of the Mijikenda community, representing the nine sub-tribes from Kenya’s Coast region. The ceremony took place at Vishakani village in Kaloleni, Kilifi County, the home of the late Ronald Gideon Ngala, a celebrated Coast politician and pioneer of Kenya’s Majimbo (regionalism) policy. The event coincided with the 53rd anniversary of Ngala’s death, marking a significant moment of remembrance and community renewal.
