Chief Justice Martha Koome has urged the Council of Legal Education to modernize and review the curriculum for the legal fraternity to fill the gaps in the sector. Koome, who was speaking during the council of legal education and training in Kenya and the region, defended the recent admission to the bar of 920 new lawyers that attracted online criticism, saying all the advocates were fully qualified for admission to the bar and there was no reason to divide the group into two. The chief justice has also weighed on claims of universities producing half-baked graduates, saying the Supreme Court has, in the last two years, been conducting moot courts with law students, which has proven they're well prepared for the profession. She has urged lawyers to uphold integrity in their profession and help fight graft.
