Conservationists and bird watchers have launched a bird census at tracking bird population. The exercise being conducted by 14 teams made up of volunteers, experts, and Kenya Wildlife Service officers involve careful observation and identification of water birds within lake Olo Bosat and along its shores in Nyandarua County. Nyandarua Game Warden Paul Wambugu, together with bird expert George Ndung’u, say the census will also track biodiversity, and the overall health of the habitat to support conservation of threatened species .The data collected will also help provide early warning signs of environmental degradation and guide future conservation efforts.
