A DCP rally in Kikuyu town was marked by interludes of teargas canisters and gunshots in the air in between speeches. Police officers were determined to ensure the meeting did not take place along the Southern Bypass, where supporters of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua had gathered in large numbers. The convoy did not enter Kikuyu town, with Rigathi Gachagua only speaking briefly.
