An emotional funeral service for seven victims of a suspected retaliatory attack in Kwa Wamari Tseikuru is underway at Tseikuru Primary School in Tseikuru Sub County.
Area leaders, led by Kitui Governor Julius Malombe, are attending the prayers and funeral rites ahead of the victims’ burial at their respective homesteads.
The seven were killed last Saturday in what authorities believe was an ambush carried out by suspected members of a pastoralist community.
The incident triggered tensions and unrest along the Mwingi–Garissa highway, disrupting transport and bringing movement along the route to a standstill.
