High Court bars blanket criminalization of consensual adolescent relationships in landmark ruling

The High Court in Kenya issued a landmark ruling stopping the blanket criminalization of consensual sexual encounters between adolescents. Judge Bahati Mwamuye held that criminal sanctions should not apply where there is no evidence of exploitation, coercion, abuse or power imbalance between adolescents of close age proximity.
