Human rights groups accuse IEBC of sham, violence-marred by-elections

Civil society groups have accused the IEBC of presiding over what they call sham by-elections, condemning the just-concluded polls as a blatant departure from constitutional principles. They also fault the government for deploying state machinery, engaging in voter bribery and intimidation, and openly campaigning for state-sponsored candidates. Watchdog organizations are warning that these electoral failures, if left unchecked, pose a direct and dangerous threat to the credibility of the 2027 general election.
