The Kenya National Union of Teachers in Kakamega and Kiambu county branches are threatening to join their peers in the teachers strike slated for next week if the government fails to heed to their demands to implement the CBA.Led by Kiambu Deputy Chairman Kimalel Langat, the teachers faulted the Teachers Service Commission, for allegedly failing to hire teachers to fill vacancies in many schools, not promoting deserving teachers and failing to curb corruption in the sector especially during the recruitment process. Additionally, they vowed to continue pushing for employment of more than 20,000 teachers who are currently on contract. Similar sentiments were shared by Mumias branch KNUT secretary general cyprian Omukamani who maintained they will down thier tools on the 26th of this month.
