Murder on the roads: Why Salama remains a deadly road blackspot

The accident that claimed 17 lives at Mlima Kiu in Salama along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway has once again cast a spotlight on the deadly stretch that has claimed several lives over the years. Tonight, our reporter Serfine Achieng' Ouma drove from Nairobi to the exact stretch, via Machakos Junction, where the dual carriageway ends, all the way to Salama. The journey sought to establish why a place called Salama, meaning safety, remains one of the most dangerous bends on Kenya's busiest highway.
