    Learning at Maikona High School in North Horr, Marsabit County, was temporarily disrupted as irate parents protested, demanding the sacking of 5 teachers for instituting corporal punishment. According to the parents, 36 students suffered severe body injuries after they were punished for allegedly declining to celebrate after the school failed to provide them with a meal during a music competition in which they emerged victorious. The Teachers' Service Commission has pledged to investigate the incident.
